The WACO Warriors open up the home portion of their football schedule Friday when they welcome Janesville to Roth Field in Wayland. The Warriors got the season started a week ago with a win over North Shelby of Missouri on the road 48-38 behind 272 total yards and five touchdowns from Nik Coble. On the season Coble leads the Warriors through the air going seven of 15 in the opener for 121 yards and a pair of scores. He is also the leading ground gainer with 151 yards and a trio of touchdowns on 16 carries. Robert Frazer is the favorite target in the passing game with three catches for 65 yards.

Janesville comes into the game after a 62-8 pounding of Central Elkader in week one. Carson Pariseau leads the Wildcats with three touchdowns and 84 yards on five carries. Leo Dodd was one of two through the air for 15 yards, with Caden Billingsley hauling in that lone pass. Kyler Kreiger led the Wildcat defense with seven and a half tackles. This week, WACO football coach Chad Edeker talked about his team’s win last week and getting ready for the Wildcats. “Our 3-3 front did a great job shutting down Shelby’s veer last week. Janesville runs a little bit of veer but not nearly as much. They have a running back that we had a difficult time corralling last year.”

In this matchup last year, WACO took a hard fought 25-14 win. Nik Coble led the Warrior offense, going eight of 22 through the air for 135 yards a pair of touchdowns and an interception. The WACO defense also forced two interceptions. Kickoff is set for 7p.m. at WACO High School.
