In the Southeast Iowa Superconference opener for a pair of rivals it was the Lone Tree Lions who bested the Hillcrest Academy Ravens on the volleyball court in Lone Tree Thursday. The Lions swept the match by scores of 25-23, 25-23 and 25-22. The Lions were led by Skylar Smith with eight kills. Whitney Willoz had the team lead with 14 assists and Alyssa Knock paced the Lions defense with 12 digs. The Ravens were led by Mia Graber with 11 kills and 31 digs. Graber was also a perfect nine of nine from the service line. Yani Gutierrez led Hillcrest with 22 assists. With the win, Lone Tree is now 3-5 on the year as they go to the Midland tournament today. Hillcrest Academy falls to 0-4 as they travel to the Burlington Notre Dame tournament Saturday.
