The Braves defense has Brian Diaz with 18 tackles on the season to lead the way. This week, Winfield-Mt. Union head coach Scott McCarty talked about how his team is playing and the upcoming matchup with Montezuma. “Our offensive line was able to get some interior push last week. Daunte Oepping had a big game, he’s a pretty electric player with the ball in his hands. Juanito Piper was injured in week 0 but was back last week and Christian Gerot caught a couple of touchdowns so we were able to move the ball. It was exciting to see the kids take a plan, execute it and come out on top. Montezuma has a pretty big kid at quarterback and good receivers. They always play hard.”

These two teams met a year ago with the Braves taking a 34-20 win. Action starts Friday at 7p.m. at Montezuma High School.
