One-hundred veterans from eastern Iowa will soon tour Washington, D.C. as part of the 37th Eastern Iowa Honor Flight. The flight will include 81 Vietnam-era veterans, 18 Korean War veterans, and one World War II veteran. The plane departs Tuesday from Cedar Rapids at 7:15 a.m. and returns at 8:45 p.m. During the day participants and their guardians will visit memorials in Washington, D.C. dedicated to their service and sacrifice including the WWII, Korean, and Vietnam memorials, as well as Arlington National Cemetery. The public is invited to give these veterans a warm welcome home at the airport on Tuesday.

Since 2009, 3,145 veterans plus their guardians have been transported by Eastern Iowa Honor Flight.
