The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk cross country teams will be on the course for the third straight Saturday today when they travel to Monticello. The Golden Hawks were on the course a week ago at Central College in Pella. At that meet the Mid-Prairie girls won the team title with a score of 42 points. They were led by Marie Hostetler and her individual title. Abbagail Evans, Mitzi Evans and Sidney Yoder all posted top 10 finishes. The Mid-Prairie girls are currently ranked No. 1 in the latest girls 2A poll from the Iowa Track and Field Coaches Association. Individually, three Golden Hawks make appearances in the top 30 in the state including Marie Hostetler No. 1, Abbagail Evans No. 13 and Mitzi Evans No. 22.
The Mid-Prairie boys come into the meet off of a fifth place finish at the Central College Invitational last weekend with a score of 120 points. Thaddeus Shetler was 10th overall to pace the Golden Hawks. The Mid-Prairie boys are currently ranked No. 13 in class 2A. Joining Mid-Prairie at the meet are Anamosa, Davenport Assumption, Dyersville-Beckman, Camanche, Cascade, Center Point-Urbana, Clayton Ridge, East Dubuque, Jesup, Maquoketa Valley, Monticello, North Linn, Springville, Tipton, Western Dubuque, Wilton and Monticello. Action begins at 9a.m. and continues all day in Monticello.
