The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team is back on the floor tonight at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman when they entertain the Tipton Tigers. The Golden Hawks come into the match with a 4-2 overall record, last time out they fell in four sets to Iowa City Regina High School on the road. On the season, Mid-Prairie is led by Cassidy Hershberger with 20 kills. Landy Pacha leads the Golden Hawks and is eighth in the River Valley Conference with 66 assists. Amber Swart leads the Mid-Prairie defense with 17 digs.
Tipton comes into the match with an overall record of 16-2. The Tigers are ranked No. 1 in class 3A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. Last time out the Tigers won five of six matches at the Linn-Mar tournament over the weekend, beating Center Point-Urbana, Fort Madison, Linn-Mar, Cedar Rapids Kennedy and Davenport Assumption. On the year, Tipton is led by Sommer Daniel with 145 kills, ninth in class 3A. Daniel also has the team lead with 182 assists, second most in the RVC. Karlee Kamberling and her 171 digs are best on the team and third in the state. These two teams met three times a year ago with the Tigers sweeping all three matches in straight sets. Action begins tonight at 7:15p.m. at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman.
