In Iowa you can register to vote in person or online. At Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting, a National Voter Registration Month and National Voter Registration Day proclamation was approved unanimously. Washington County Auditor Dan Widmer said the proclamation is meant to instill the importance of voting, “And this is obviously is somewhat of a lead up to the November elections, and just to bring attention to the fact of the importance of voting, and registering to vote, so.” To register to vote in Iowa you must be a U.S. citizen, an Iowa resident, and at least 17 years old. Registration can be completed online at the Iowa Secretary of State’s website or in person at the local county auditor’s office. National Voter Registration Day will be observed on September 24th. On November 5th, voters will be able to cast ballots in local school board and city council races.
