A splash pad may soon be coming to Wayland. The town is holding a fundraiser this weekend for the project. A Splashdown Fish Fry is being held in Wayland on Saturday. From 5-7:30 p.m. at the Wayland Fire station, food will be served with proceeds going to the Wayland Splash down project. A splash pad is a recreation area with water features, but with little to no standing water.
City Clerk Beverly Conrad believes that this project will be great for the town’s youth, “We are calling it the West Park Wetlands. It will have a 30 by 30-foot splash pad with features on it for kids up to elementary age. We are also installing new restrooms as well, including family restrooms and changing stations. And then we are going to have a water fountain and water bottle filling station.”
This fundraiser is part of the City of Wayland’s multi-step plan to renovate their parks.
