The percentage of Iowa in moderate drought was cut in half from last week. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 4.3% of Iowa is in moderate drought and 27.3% is abnormally dry. Most of the KCII-listening area is dry with most of Washington, Louisa, Henry, and Keokuk Counties in moderate drought.
In moderate drought soybeans can abort pods, corn test weights may struggle, grasses brown, and pond levels decline. In abnormally dry conditions corn shows drought stress and the soil is dry.
