A laborshed study is coming to the KCII-listening area. The Fairfield Economic Development Association will work alongside Iowa Workforce Development and Iowa Economic Development Authority to perform a laborshed employment study of the Fairfield area.
This study is meant to measure the availability and characteristics of Fairfield area workers. Letters will be sent to employers asking that they provide aggregate counts of their employee’s residential zip codes so as to determine the size and scope of Fairfield’s laborshed area.
A letter will also be sent directing residents to a confidential online survey designed to determine the characteristics of Fairfield’s workforce. Survey questions will cover topics such as: employment status, current and desired wages, education level, and occupation. The study is being conducted so that existing or prospective employers can better understand the local labor market and make informed expansion and site selection decisions.
