The Marching Demon Nation brought home hardware from competitions Saturday. The Washington High School marching band placed second at the Fort Madison Classic. The Demons were also presented awards for outstanding drum line and outstanding drum majors. The 77-member band is led by drum majors Audrey Wubbena and Hunter Rarick. Senior John Flannery wrote the music for the show called Dante’s Ascent, “My eighth grade year we did the show Dante’s Descent, so it’s kind of like a sequel almost to that. I felt it was just kind of an inspirational starting point.”

The band had been slated to compete later on Saturday at the Mt. Pleasant Invitational, but it was cancelled due to weather and poor field conditions. See the Marching Demon Nation take the field at halftime of the Homecoming football game this Friday.
