Five KCII area cross country teams made a trip to Mount Pleasant on Tuesday for a 14-team meet and the Columbus boys continued to roll.

The Wildcats finished second in the small division out of 10 teams with a score of 92 while Danville won it all with 31. Sophomore Isaac Acosta cracked the top 10 in seventh with a time of 19:03 and Jesus Medrano was 18th in 20:21. Winfield-Mt. Union placed third with 100 points and Brody Barton led them in fourth (18:39) while Asa Gipple nabbed 15th (19:54). Lone Tree placed eighth with 194 points and Alberto Cortes crossed the finish line in 23rd (20:39). WACO did not have a team score but Jonah Egli placed 11th (19:36). In the large class division Washington placed third with 52 points and Fairfield won with 38. Evan Horak stole the show again with a first place finish in 18:14 that was 14 seconds faster than any other runner. Lance Sobaski placed sixth for the Demons (18:34).

On the girls’ side Washington managed fourth place with 82 points and Mount Pleasant protected their home course with 18. Grace Voss had another strong race in 11th clocking in at 23:32 and Hannah Rees placed 14th (24:13). No other teams had scores, but Lone Tree’s Macie Bopp placed third in the small division (22:25), Winfield-Mt. Union’s Avery Maeder in eighth (24:17), WACO’s Grace Conwell in 18th (25:55), and Columbus Community’s Esther Lian was 26th (27:48).
