Kalona’s city council has approved the addition of a handicapped space near the front of the Kalona Public library. This was a response to a request from the Library Board at a City Council meeting earlier this month. This parking space will be near the library’s drop-off area. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh explained the reason for this addition, “They had an ADA (Americans with Disabilities) spot that was put further from the door than the public and the library would have liked to see. So, they came to the council and made a request to have an additional ADA spot put in a closer proximity to the front door.”

Additionally, the council approved the removal of a handicapped space on 6th Street by the corner of C Avenue.
