A hungry and determined Washington football team returns to Case Field tonight when they host Keokuk for homecoming.
The Demons faced adversity this past week when they were forced to forfeit their win against West Liberty and drop to 3-1 on the season. Instead of moping about it, head coach James Harris tells KCII Sports it has fueled the team. “I think our team has responded better than I ever could have hoped. They really are grinders and are focused on the task at hand. That is taking each opponent one-week at a time and moving forward. Honestly, it was our best week of practice to date.” Washington will have to channel that energy onto the field tonight against a much improved and undefeated Chiefs (4-0) team. Third year signal caller Corey Skinner has led a Keokuk offense that averages 36 points a night. The junior has thrown for 648 yards and eight touchdowns with his main target being Anthony Potratz with 205 receiving yards. The ground game might be the go-to tonight with sloppy playing conditions expected. Washington has compiled 988 rushing yards to Keokuk’s 763.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. tonight at Case Field and listen to it all on FM 106.1 KCII. The KCII Football Friday Preview Show begins at 6 p.m. with coverage from Case Field starting at 7 p.m.
