For the first time in school history, the WACO volleyball team advanced to the finals of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference tournament after they finished in the top two in the preliminary round at Mediapolis.
The Warriors lost to Mediapolis (13-21, 11-21), but beat Highland (21-9, 21-14), Danville (22-20, 21-14), and West Burlington (21-12, 21-15) to finish second and qualify for Saturday’s finals. Morgan Graber led the offense on the day with 25 kills in the four matches and Laney Graber had 58 assists. Aubri Garnsey took care of business defensively with 46 digs to help WACO move to 15-5 on the season. Along with falling to WACO, the Huskies lost to Mediapolis (8-21, 12-21), West Burlington (6-21, 14-21), and Danville (8-21, 13-21). Highland is now 2-14.
The Warriors will play at Southeastern Community College in Burlington tomorrow with their first match at 5 p.m. against Van Buren.
