Drought conditions in Iowa lessened substantially in the last week, however southeast Iowa is still abnormally dry. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, last week 4.3% of the state was in moderate drought and 27.3% was abnormally dry. Now only 6.5% of Iowa is abnormally dry. Most of the dry conditions are concentrated in the KCII-listening area, including the majority of Washington, Johnson, Iowa, Louisa, and Jefferson Counties, along with all of Henry County. Friday’s rain fell after these levels were reported and will be factored into next week’s drought monitor data.
