Anna Tampio and Travis Guinard, both of Burlington, were each charged with multiple felonies including second degree burglary, interference with official acts, and assault on a peace officer. At approximately 10:41 p.m. Thursday, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious car parked at a residence in the 1900 grid of 170th Street. Upon a deputy’s arrival two men and a woman were found in the car and fled the scene. Tampio was apprehended by law enforcement at 12:30 a.m.Travis Guinard’s arrest followed at around 8 a.m.
When officers attempted to stop Craig Kogel’s vehicle Friday at 1:30 a.m. to determine if it had been involved in the burglary, Kogel fled. A short time later, deputies attempted to perform a traffic stop but Kogel again fled, this time resulting in a high speed chase. At the intersection of 150th Street and March Avenue, Kogel lost control while attempting a turn and crashed into the ditch. Kogel fled on foot and has not been located by law enforcement. Warrants for Kogel include driving under suspension, failure to provide proof of insurance, reckless driving, speeding, failure to maintain control, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and failure to obey a stop sign. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Mt. Pleasant Police Department, New London Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Mount Pleasant Fire Department responded to the scene.
