The nail-biting trend continued for the WACO football team on Monday night, but this time they turned their fourth consecutive one possession game into a win by outlasting Iowa Valley 51-44.
In the contest rescheduled from Friday, the Warriors took control early scoring the game’s first 17 points on a Nik Coble seven-yard touchdown run, a 41 yard pass from Coble to Robert Frazer, and a 22 yard field goal from Simeon Reichenbach. Coble added a pair of rushing scores in the second, but the Tiger offense woke up and cut the deficit to 31-22 at the break. After a Jaden Williams 51 yard receiving touchdown, Iowa Valley scored 22 unanswered points to open a 44-37 lead early in the fourth. The battle tested Warriors did not waver, as the Coble to Frazer connection reached the end zone two more times and WACO put a halt to their three-game losing skid. Coble threw all over the yard finishing 14 of 22 for 319 yards with four scores and three more on the ground. Williams and Frazer each surpassed the 100-yard receiving mark on six receptions with 172 and 101 yards, respectively. Braden Hammond recorded eight tackles to pace a Warrior defense that turned the Tigers over four times.
WACO improves to 2-3 and Iowa Valley drops to 3-2. The Warriors have a quick turnaround facing HLV on Friday.
