Momentum is starting to grow for the Lone Tree football team, as they won their third in a row on Friday downing Winfield-Mt. Union 62-32.
Alex Viner wreaked havoc early and often scoring four touchdowns in the first quarter. The junior had rushing scores from 48 and one yard out, as well as being on the receiving end of 26 and 43 yard passes. The Lions led 30-8, but the Wolves made it a 30-24 game at half after Daunte Oepping touchdown passes to Juanito Piper and Christian Gerot. Harmon Miller helped Lone Tree pull away in the second half being responsible for four scores and Cale Yoder had the finishing touches on a 28-yard interception taken back to the house. Head Coach Aaron Bohr tells KCII Sports, as always the offensive outbreak all started with the big boys upfront. “We recently switched some things on the line and they have responded well. Cale Yoder, Tim Mills, Trey Shalla, Tyler Bell, Keegan Edwards, Chris Reichert, Josh Mills, and Will Hotz all have done a really good job blocking.” Miller finished eight of 11 through the air for 179 yards with four touchdowns and rushed for three more on 127 yards. Viner had five receptions for 125 yards and the three scores. Oepping led the Wolves being involved in all four times they reached pay dirt and had 221 yards of total offense.
Lone Tree improves to 3-3 and they battle at Iowa Valley on Friday while WMU is 1-5 and they host New London.
