Sigourney High School celebrated homecoming with a week full of activities and the Cobra football team hopes to cap it off with a win against fellow KCII area school Columbus Community.

Six weeks into the season and the Cobras (6-0) still lead the entire state in rushing with 2,735 yards. Depth in the ground game is apparent with five guys over 100 rushing yards led by JD Stout with 1,147. Sigourney-Keota has outscored their opponents a staggering 318-75. Despite the many distractions of homecoming week, head coach Jared Jensen isn’t worried about his team succumbing to them. “I feel like this group is able to handle the distractions better than other groups we have had. They have to be smart and they will be.” Columbus (1-6) is trying to find their footing after a four-game losing skid. Will Schwab has led the rushing attack with 355 yards and Jonathan Gonzales is a threat on the outside with 10 receptions for 157 yards.

The homecoming matchup begins at 7 p.m. tonight in Sigourney.
