History was made for the Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball team on Thursday night, but it was not enough to overcome Louisa-Muscatine losing in four sets.

It started out promising for the Wolves winning the first set 25-17, but fell in the final three 25-16, 25-11, and 25-14. Junior Kyndal Townsley recorded 27 digs and surpassed the 1,000-dig milestone, the first to do so in school history. Anna Hudson led the offense with eight kills, Kayla Edwards had 11 assists and was 13 of 13 serving.

WMU is now 18-11 and they suffered their first conference loss to drop to 6-1. They get back on the court Tuesday against Mediapolis.
