For the second straight year Sigourney’s Mason Moore is a conference champion, as the junior blew by the competition Tuesday at the South Iowa Cedar League Conference meet in North English.
Moore clocked in at 18:33 and that was 19 seconds faster than the second place finisher. The Savages finished fifth as a team with 93 points and Colfax-Mingo won the team title with 51. Jake Ives just missed medaling finishing 12th in 20:27. Keota did not have a team score, but Dakota Hammen was 45th (28:58) and Dalton Dodd was 47th (29:26).
Sigourney girls had four runners compete led by Megan Stuhr in 41st (28:35) and Georgia Atwood was 47th (30:05). Keota had Jenna Jaeger cross the finish line in 51st (30:55) and Jordan Hammen in 52nd (30:55).
Both teams now gear up for the state-qualifying meet next Thursday. Sigourney heads to Marshalltown and Keota is in Iowa City.
