Heritage, heart, and hope were celebrated at the Washington Public Library’s 10th Anniversary celebration Thursday. Hundreds stopped by for the festivities including all three library directors who have served in the building: Bryna Walker, Debbie Stanton, and Patrick Finney. Finney traveled from Missouri where he’s works in a medical library and Stanton came back to Washington from Kansas where she works at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, “It feels like coming home. It’s wonderful. It’s been so fun to see the library’s Facebook posts of their kind of history, because it’s just bringing up so memories of all the wonderful times that I had here, and spent here with staff, and the public, and the board, and everybody.”
The celebration included live music on the library’s baby grand piano, displays on each floor of the library including in the genealogy department and a bookplate collection in the Helen Wilson Gallery, refreshments and a stop on the inaugural Choctoberfest.
