The Winfield-Mt. Union football team travels to Victor tonight to meet the HLV Warriors in district play. The Wolves come into the game with an overall record of 1-6. Last week they were beaten by New London 52-14, despite 166 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns from Daunte Oepping. On the season the Wolves are led by Oepping through the air at 57 of 106 for 906 yards, 10 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also leads the team on the ground with 848 yards and 16 touchdowns on 166 carries. Leading receiver for the Wolves is Juanito Piper with 21 catches for 239 yards and three touchdowns. Piper also leads the Wolves defense with 83 total tackles and four stops for loss.
HLV comes into the game with a 5-2 overall record. A week ago the Warriors fell to Montezuma 56-44. Carson Cheney leads the HLV offense through the air at 34 for 63 596 yards, 10 touchdowns and two interceptions. His favorite target is Beau York with eight catches for 164 yards and three touchdowns. Marcus Kolesar leads the Warrior ground game with 87 carries for 611 yards and seven touchdowns. He also has a team best 35 and a half tackles. These two teams met a year ago with the Warriors scoring a 72-22 win. Action begins tonight at 7p.m. at HLV High School.
