The Washington middle school cross country teams competed in the Southeast Conference meet on Thursday in Mount Pleasant.
The Demon girls placed third with 57 points and Ottumwa won it all with 46. Isabella Lujan led the team in 10th with a time of 13:25 in the two-mile race. Other top finishes included Taylor Bartholomew 13th (13:57), Giselle Marcelino 14th (13:59), Lauren Horak 17th (14:08), and Quincy Griffis 18th (14:11).
The boys placed fourth out of seven teams with 98 points and Fort Madison took home the crown with 40. Kevin Marcelino was the first Demon to cross the finish line in seventh (11:58) and Luke Beenblossom in 10th (12:05). Other notable finishes include Micah Rees 15th (12:25) and Aaron Boone 30th (13:23).
