The seniors on the Highland football team went out the right way in their final home game in Riverside, as they held on for an exciting 27-20 win over Cardinal (4-4).
The Huskies controlled most of the game, as they roared out to a 27-7 advantage in part by their rushing attack. Three players reached the 100-yard rushing barrier led by Connor Grinstead with 166 yards and one touchdown. Owen Donovan had 125 rushing yards and two scores while Cole Adamson tallied 104 yards. Mason McFarland had both Highland receptions for 40 yards and also had an acrobatic one-handed interception in the end zone that ended a Cardinal drive right before half. Adamson led the defense with 12 tackles. Head Coach Scott Morel tells KCII Sports everything was working in the rushing game. “We ran a quarterback sneak and it went 44 yards for a touchdown. If we can have a big run on a quarterback sneak that is a good day for us. It was a great way for our seniors to go out.”
Highland improves to 5-3 and they finish out the year Friday at Belle Plaine (6-2).
