Two KCII area football teams have playoff implications on the line this Friday in the final week of the regular season. The Iowa High School Athletic Association released a new rating percentage index (RPI) rankings yesterday and both Washington and Sigourney-Keota sit at 14th in their respective classes.
After a loss by Davenport Assumption, the Demons (6-2) leapfrogged them to move up one spot in class 3A. Washington faces Mount Pleasant (6-2) on Friday and they are right behind in 15th. The winner is sitting pretty at a playoff spot while the loser would need help. Sigourney-Keota (8-0) stayed put in the class 1A rankings and they face 16th ranked Mediapolis (7-1) for the district 5 crown. The winner would automatically be in while the loser would have to wait and see for an at-large bid.
The 16-team field for all classes will be released late in the night on Friday and KCII will have the coverage Saturday morning.
