The Hillcrest Academy Raven volleyball team hits the road tonight as they begin the tournament trail with a trip to New London. The Ravens come into the match with an overall record of 0-25. Last time out Hillcrest was beaten by Columbus and Louisa-Muscatine in a triangular in straight sets. On the year the Ravens are led by Danae McGaffey with 49 kills. Yani Gutierrez leads the Ravens with 107 assists, eighth in the Superconference. Malia Sedlacek leads the Raven defense with 91 digs.
New London comes into the night with an overall record of 26-8. The Tigers are ranked No. 10 in the latest class 1A poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. In their last match they swept Cardinal of Eldon in straight sets. On the year the Tigers are led by Addie Pray with 282 kills, fourth in the Southeast Iowa Superconference. Aliyah Christensen is second in the Superconference with 697 assists. The Tigers defense is led by Kyra Linkin with 479 digs, second in the conference. These two teams met mid-season in the Southeast Iowa Superconference tournament with the Tigers sweeping the match. The winner of this contest advances to take on the winner of Keota and Tri-County next week. Action begins at 7p.m. at New London High School.
