The rivalry between WACO and Winfield-Mt. Union is long and storied. Ahead of their season- ending football game against one another on Friday, the two schools are squaring off in the second annual competition for the schools’ backpack programs. To participate, bring in non-perishable food items to Wayland State Bank in either Wayland or Winfield through Friday. On your donation, indicate which team you are rooting for and each donated item scores a point for your team. There will be a tent at the game Friday to accept last-minute donations. The winning school will be announced at halftime of the game at Winfield-Mt. Union High School. All donations received will be delivered to the WACO and Winfield-Mt. Union School backpack programs to provide food for students in need.
