One of the most prestigious groups for choir students in the state of Iowa was recently announced and a Mid-Prairie teacher will take part. More than 2,600 students from across the state auditioned for 720 positions in four different Opus Honor Choirs sponsored by the Iowa Choral Directors Association Incorporated. Each of the four choirs will also have a special guest conductor, including Mid-Prairie High School choir director Collette McClellen, who will direct the seventh and eighth grade treble clef honor choir. The 2019 Opus Honor Choirs will perform at 4 p.m. Saturday, November 21st in C.Y. Stephens Auditorium in the Iowa State Center in Ames.
