The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk cross country teams appear in the week eight poll just released from the Iowa Track and Field Coaches Association. The Golden Hawk girls remain atop the poll for the eighth straight week. The Hawks qualified for the class 2A state meet in Fort Dodge next week by finishing runner up to No. 2 Williamsburg at the state qualifier meet on Thursday. The Golden Hawks were led at the meet by Marie Hostetler who won the individual title with a time of 17:51. Mid-Prairie has three ranked runners in their lineup led by Hostetler atop the poll. Mitzi Evans checks in this week at No. 8 and Abbagail Evans No. 23.
The Mid-Prairie boys are ranked No. 11 in this week’s poll. The Golden Hawks saw the team season come to an end on Thursday in Williamsburg with a fifth place finish but did advance individuals Jamison Stutzman and Nathan Wallington to state. The Mid-Prairie cross country teams will next be in action on Saturday at the class 2A state meet at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
