Washington County’s unemployment rate fell slightly from August to September. According to Iowa Workforce Development in August Washington County had 300 people unemployed with 2.1% unemployment. In September, that dropped to 200 people or 1.8% unemployment. Other area counties that saw declines in unemployment last month include Henry, Iowa, Jefferson, Johnson, Keokuk, and Louisa. The highest unemployment rate in the state in September was 4.0% in Wapello County.
