The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk football team finished the regular season Friday by rewriting the record books in a 77-13 win over Albia on the road. The 77 point total for the Golden Hawks is the most in a single game in school history, besting the mark of 72 from the 1997 season against Wilton. The Golden Hawk offense was on point from the opening kick, scoring touchdowns on their first five drives of the game. Mid-Prairie had 13 possessions in the game in total, scoring 11 touchdowns, punting just once and turning the ball over once. The 11 touchdown mark ties the school record set in the 1997 Wilton game. Kayden Reinier had five of the Golden Hawk’s touchdowns with scoring rushes of 93, 22, five, three and two yards. That total is fourth most in a single game in school history. His 93 yard run is the second longest rush in school history. Vinny Bowlin had a trifecta of touchdowns with scoring runs of 80, 29 and one yard. His 80 yard run is the 10th longest rush in school history. Nathan Quinby added a pair of rushing touchdowns of seven and six yards. His six yard scoring run was the record breaker with five minutes left in the game. The Golden Hawks also got a score through the air when Brad Tornow hooked up with Chris Miller on a 22-yard scoring strike and the Mid-Prairie special teams recorded a safety on a botched punt snap. The Golden Hawks led 21-7 after one quarter, 49-7 at half, and 63-7 after the third. On scoring plays alone the Mid-Prairie offense rolled up 269 total yards. In total the Golden Hawks had 645 yards in the game including 537 on the ground. Both of those numbers are school records. The 645 total yards breaks the 630 mark that was set against Colfax-Mingo in 2006 and the 537 yards on the ground breaks the 495 yard mark that was set in the same game. The Golden Hawks ended the season with a 6-3 overall record.
