The playoff bound Belle Plaine Plainsmen gave Highland a hard time in the season finale on Friday winning 50-14.

The Plainsmen’ Luke DeMeulenaere and Trevin Straight were a tough one-two punch combining for 346 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Highland head coach Scott Morel tells KCII Sports despite the loss, his team never quit. “We never stopped fighting. We made some adjustments at half and they followed through with it. We scored in the second half on a beautiful run after catch by Mason McFarland. We never quit and that’s what we have been preaching all year.”

The Huskies finish the year 5-4 and say goodbye to seven seniors. Belle Plaine is 7-2 and they host Grundy Center for a first round class A game on Friday.
