There will be a lot of black and gold in Fort Dodge Saturday for the class 2A Iowa State Cross Country championship meet. The Mid-Prairie girls qualified for state as a team after a runner-up finish at last week’s Williamsburg state qualifier meet. They were led in the race by meet champion Marie Hostetler. The Golden Hawks are looking for their third consecutive team state championship and Hostetler is in search of her third straight individual title. The Golden Hawks come into the meet ranked No. 2 in the state behind, No. 1 Williamsburg. It is the first time since the preseason rankings that the Hawks are not No. 1. The Golden Hawks have three ranked runners in their lineup with Hostetler sitting atop the 2A poll. Joining her is Mitzi Evans at No. 12 and Abbagail Evans at No. 26.

The Mid-Prairie boys will be represented on the course by a pair of runners. Jamison Stutzman and Nathan Wallington qualified for the state meet in Fort Dodge with their individual performance at Williamsburg last week. Stutzman took ninth and Wallington finished in 14th.
