The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk football team witnessed a resurgence in 2019. Part of the Hawks success was predicated on their opportunistic defense. The Golden Hawks forced a total of 25 takeaways on the season, sixth most in class 2A. That number includes 14 fumble recoveries which was fifth most in the state. In total, the Golden Hawks finished an impressive plus 13 in turnover margin. Individually, Keegan Gingerich and Logan Harmsen finished fourth in class 2A, each with three fumble recoveries during the season. Josh Wallington and Isaac Boucher each recovered a pair of fumbles while Jack Baker, Cael Garvey, Nathan Quinby and Zeb Danner had one fumble recovery apiece. A trio of Golden Hawks led the way with a pair of interceptions each in Justice Jones, Vinny Bowlin and Zeb Danner. Kayden Reinier, Clarke Latchem, Chris Miller, Brad Tornow and Cole Davis each had one pick apiece. Gingerich and Wallington each scored defensive touchdowns this year for the Golden Hawks with Wallington racing 98 yards with a fumble recovery for touchdown and Gingerich going 12. Mid-Prairie ended the year with a 6-3 overall record.
