Less than 10% of the registered voters in Washington County cast ballots Tuesday. According to the unofficial results from the Washington County Auditor’s Office, 1,494 ballots were cast in the city council and school board elections. There are 15,100 registered voters in Washington County. Overall, 9.89% of voters took part in the election. In the city council elections of 2017 just the city of Washington had 1,306 voters, just under 200 fewer than the total number of voters for the entire county this election.

In 2018, nearly 61% of Washington County’s voters cast a ballot in the state and county races. And in 2016’s presidential election, just over 73% voted locally.
