Firefighters extinguished a garage fire in freezing temperatures Monday in Washington. Just after 11 a.m. with temperatures near 20 degrees, Washington firefighters extinguished a fire in the 800 block of East Madison, near South 9th Avenue. The detached two-stall garage was located in the alley. One block of Madison was closed while emergency crews worked at the scene. Washington Police and Washington County Ambulance assisted at the scene.
