All district awards were rolling in for the Highland football team, as 10 players were recognized by class A district 6.
Headlining the selections were three first teamers in Zach Lasek, Mason McFarland, and Cole Adamson. Lasek was a beast upfront paving the way for over 2,000 rushing yards and he was also second on the team in tackles with 54. McFarland showed off his playmaking abilities as a wide out hauling in 25 receptions for 625 yards and six touchdowns. Adamson was the leading Huskie rusher with 817 yards and he finished third in the district with 68 tackles.
Second team selections included Cael Yeggy, Isaac Black, and Owen Donovan. Yeggy and Black held their own upfront and Yeggy recorded 54 tackles defensively while Black had 35. Donovan provided some depth in the backfield with 726 rushing yards and eight scores.
Honorable mention selections included Connor Grinstead, Zane Arnold, and Bryce Waters. As the signal caller, Grinstead threw for 920 yards and nine touchdowns, Arnold led the district with six interceptions, and Waters created 19 tackles. Derrick Sandburg received the Golden award that is given to someone who was injured during the year and showed the potential to be an all district player. The senior tallied 13 tackles in limited action.
Highland finished the 2019 campaign with a 5-4 record.
