Kalona Mayor Ken Herington was presented a service award by members of Washington County 911 Emergency Management. Herington has served the City of Kalona for more than 20 years as both a city council member and mayor. Kalona City Administrator Ryan Slabaugh talked about Herington’s leadership in the community. “He’s done a wonderful job and really seen us through a lot of really good projects for the city of Kalona. Things like roads, community center, downtown streetscape, parks, campgrounds, keeping our infrastructure current and relevant. Ken has been a great champion for the residents of Kalona.”

Herington has decided not to seek re-election. His term expires in 2020.
