There was no shortage of athleticism on the gridiron this fall in Southeast Iowa, especially at the quarterback position. In 8-player district 4 all three KCII area teams had signal callers that were among the best in the league with their arm and legs.
Three of the top five passers in the district were from area schools, as WACO’s Nik Coble finished second with 2,425 passing yards, Lone Tree’s Harmon Miller was fourth with 1,195, and Winfield-Mt. Union’s Daunte Oepping was right behind in fifth with 1,188. The ground game from the trio was also efficient with Oepping compiling the sixth most rushing yards with 949, Coble in seventh with 847, and Miller in eighth with 758. Coble was responsible for 51 touchdowns on the season that ranks second, Miller’s 34 is fourth, and Oepping’s 30 is sixth.
All three schools will be looking for a new offensive captain next year, as the players are lost to graduation.
