mitten-tree-225x300

Help warm up Washington by decorating a tree with mittens, hats, and scarves at the Washington Public Library. The annual mitten tree is now up and accepting donations. The Sticks and Strings group started the project more than a decade ago with items going to those in need locally. Handmade and store-bought items are both welcomed. Library Director Bryna Walker says they’re accepting donations of mittens, gloves, hats, scarves, and socks. Each year about 200 items are donated and dispersed among HACAP, CHOICES, the police department, the shelter, and area schools. The tree will be up for donations through mid-December.
