The first peak at the girls’ basketball season is Friday in Washington, as the Demons play host to area school WACO in the annual Hall of Pride Scrimmage.

Not only is the game an opportunity to see each team for the first time, but it is also for a good cause. The service project that the Demons are doing for the annual event is they are collecting cans and donations for Hawkeye Cans for Cancer. All funds will go to local cancer patients to help with expenses that are not covered by insurance including gas, parking, and meals when going to and from appointments. There will be boxes at the admissions table for any attendee that would like to donate empty cans and bottles. Entry into the game is $5 and activity passes are accepted.

The junior varsity teams are set to scrimmage at 6:30 p.m. Friday with the varsity squads at 8 p.m.
