As Iowa’s labor force increased, so did the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate. According to Iowa Workforce Development, the unemployment rate increased to 2.6% in October. Also, the labor force participation rate increased from 70.1% in September to 70.4% in October. In Iowa, manufacturing leads in sectors in terms of job growth with the addition of 2,800 jobs in the past 12 months. In October, Washington County’s unemployment rate was 1.7%. The highest rate was 4.2% in Wapello County. The U.S. unemployment rate rose to 3.6% last month.
