A special meeting of the Columbus School Board included the resignation of a teacher who had been arrested in August. During a closed session, the board accepted the resignation of 33-year-old Eusebio Jimenez Jr. As previously reported by KCII, Jimenez served the district as a Spanish teacher and head cheerleading coach since 2016. His arrest came the day before the school year began, following a nine-month investigation by school, child welfare, and law enforcement officials. Court records show the inquiry began after a 15-year-old male student from Jimenez’ Spanish class made allegations that the teacher had sent him sexually suggestive social media, text messages and photos, and had touched the student inappropriately. Jimenez pled not guilty to those charges during a written arraignment on October 2nd. No trial date has been set.
