Five Keokuk county farms were honored by the state as Heritage Farms by Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation President Craig Hill and Vice President Joe Heinrich. Those recognized included the Robert and Nancy Byers farm in Ollie established in 1852, the David Simpson farm in Keswick established in 1856, the Karen Hart Farm in Sigourney established in 1869, the John E. Klein Trust established in Keota in 1869, and the Curt and Barb Holland farm established in Keswick in 1869. The program celebrates farms that have been owned by the same families for more than 150 years. There were 485 Iowa farms that received this distinction this year.
