A big hole early was insurmountable for the Columbus girls’ basketball team, as they fell to rival Louisa-Muscatine 58-15 on Tuesday night to open the season.

The Falcons jumped out to a 21-2 advantage at the end of one and 31-5 at the break with that lead continuing to grow in the second half. Kylee Sanders was a tough player to stop, as she recorded 21 points, 11 rebounds, and nine steals for the Falcons. Columbus head coach Katie Coil tells KCII Sports they had a lot of trouble breaking the press. “L&M is gifted with lots of talent and Sanders was at the top of their press. She was very disruptive and we couldn’t get the ball past half court. You can’t replicate the athleticism that they have.”

The Wildcats start the year 0-1 and travel to Mediapolis on Tuesday.
