A tall task awaited the WACO girls’ basketball team on Tuesday night to open the season with a trip to face Van Buren and the Warriors of Van Buren broke out for a 74-10 victory.
WACO was held scoreless after one falling behind 17-0 at the end of eight minutes and 44-3 at the break with the deficit continuing to grow in the second half. Van Buren’s one-two punch of Isabel Manning and Taryn Scheuermann were in complete control combining for 48 points including six threes.
The Warriors start the year 0-1 and are back on the road Tuesday at Wapello.
