A collegiate choir is teaming up with the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra to present a free holiday concert in Washington. The Iowa Wesleyan University choir is presenting the concert. Director Blair Buffington says it is a holiday experience for the community, “There’s no substitution for live music. You know, being in the room while music is being created is a truly wonderful experience and this is a chance for the communities of southeast Iowa to be able to see and experience live the work that our students have been doing this semester and be part of that community effort that makes this a regional event, and sort of marks Iowa Wesleyan as southeast Iowa’s regional university.”
The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center at the Washington High School on Sunday. There are no tickets, a freewill donation will be accepted to go back to the university’s choir.
