Iowa’s farmers are approaching the finish line with this year’s harvest, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Last weeks’ rain and snow suspended harvest activity and limited farmers to 3.1 days suitable for fieldwork. Overall, 92% of the corn for grain crop has been harvested, two weeks behind the five-year average. Farmers in the northeast and south central districts trailed the rest of the state with more than 15% of the crop left to be harvested. Southeast Iowa had 94% of corn out of the field.
